Flowchart of the Application Process

Applicant is aged 18 years or older. A competent fell walker/mountaineer or climber, with extensive experience in all seasons. Has good knowledge of the Lake District.
Start the membership application form on line. Name & contact details.
Applicant receives email login link to online form for Associate Membership.
Applicant completes summary of recent experience (last 5 years), general experience, reasons for applying, uploads photo, provides proof of 3rd party liability insurance.
If the applicant meets the criteria, they can be booked onto meets by recruitment@frcc.co.uk. Or by Full Members known to them, who take responsibility and accompany them.
Applicant doesn’t know any Full Members
  • Applicant attends meets and finds two Full Club Members who are willing to act as proposer and second.
  • Applicant attends a minimum of three meets. Demonstrate contribution to Club work & life.
  • Nominated proposer and seconder are asked for supporting statements.

Applicant knows Full Club Members who know them well & who are willing to act as proposer, second and two supporters
  • Applicants are encouraged to attend meets. Demonstrate contribution to Club work & life.
  • Nominated proposer, seconder and two supporters are asked for supporting statements.
Feedback is also considered from members who have accompanied the applicant climbing, mountaineering or who have stayed in a hut or attended a meet at the same time.
Applications are considered four times a year by the Membership Committee and should be submitted by 31st December, 31st March, 31st July, 31st October.
Associate Membership is approved or not. If successful the applicant receives a huts key and can book on any meet.
After a period of up to three years of getting involved in Club activities, which might include meet attendance, including maintenance meets, co-ordinating a meet, helping with guidebooks, contributing articles. The Associate can apply for an upgrade to Full Membership by contacting membership@frcc.co.uk.
